What should we add? Most communication experts tell us of words to cut from our vocabulary to build credibility. What about the ones we should add?
I recommend we start by expanding our emotional vocabulary. Why? Feelings are powerful. So powerful that I believe they are integral for who we become.
From your own experiences and observances, you know:
- The way we express our emotions can either destroy or strengthen our relationships.
- And solid relationships are critical to our success and happiness – personally and professionally.
TIP: Pause to consider how good you are at naming your deep emotions.
To help you, I have added The Emotion Wheel as a resource. The wheel helps us identify, express, generate, and change our feelings. It was first developed by Dr. Gloria Wilcox and several modifications now exist. I sourced this version from Calm.
